Jessica Newman


Jessica Newman grew up in Englewood, Chicago and attended elementary school in Bridgeport. At an early age, her multicultural experiences encouraged Jessica to interrogate the educational and economical  inequities of her city. She grew to be a social justice educator, artist, and cultural bridge builder. 

She currently serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Lead at OppLoans, Founder of Transformation Lens  where she strives to make inclusive workplaces, elevate individuals with underrepresented communities, and dismantle barriers in the fintech industry. It is a passion of hers to bridge healing and diversity and inclusion. 

Jessica has spoken at various institutions on equitable leadership and the intersectional power of being a Black Women on college campuses. She received her B.A. degree in Global Business from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and her M.S.Ed in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University.
